Gluten Free Golden Christmas Pudding

Gluten Free Golden Christmas Pudding

This is one of my favourite Christmas pudding recipes ever. It tastes fabulous and is Gluten-Free so everyone can enjoy it.


  • 110g raisins
  • 75g sultanas
  • 1 small carrot, grated
  • 1 small apple, grated
  • 175mls cider
  • 50g runny honey
  • 50g cornflour (gluten free)
  • 100g rice flour
  • 50g soft brown sugar
  • 50g chopped dried figs
  • 50g pine nuts
  • 50g chopped dates
  • 50g currants
  • 50g olive oil
  • 50g candied fruits chopped optional
  • 35g flaked almonds
  • 2 tsp mixed spice
  • 2 medium eggs beaten
  • salt pinch or two


  1. Soak all the fruit and carrot in the cider overnight.
  2. Next day mix well then add the sugar, pinenuts, honey, flours, olive oil, candied fruit, almonds, spice, egg and finally salt.
  3. Mix well and pack into a 2lb pudding basin.
  4. Cover with greaseproof paper and foil and secure well.
  5. Steam for 4 hours.
  6. Remove and cool.

    Can anyone please tell me how long in advance does this need to be made?

    Not long at all really so just a day or two as everything is cooked, however the longer you leave it the more it has chance to mature. But I have eaten them the next day.

    Can you substitute the eggs with flax 'eggs'
